Chausie is a cat with a wild heritage and loving temperment. The Chausies were developed by crossing a Jungle Cat with a domestic cat. In the beginning, the Jungle Cat crosses and the next two generations (F1, F2, and F3) are considered Jungle cat hybrids. An F1 is the first generation hybrid from the Jungle Cat cross with a domestic cat. An F2 is a Chausie hybrid that has an F1 as a dam and a domestic male cat as a sire. F3’s are Chausies that have an F2 as a dam and a domestic male cat as a sire. F1 and F2 males are usually sterile due to chromosomal differences between domestic and wild cats. Chausies are generally fully grown at 2 years of age. Weight can vary between 10-25 lbs. depending upon breeding and size of domestics and hybrids, as well as what generation the chausie is. Chausies are being breed for the look, personality, and temperment. Size and weight are secondary.
