The Bowens Illumitran Slide Copier
OK. the Bowens Illumitran was not originally a stereo slide copier. However, it was the best commercial slide copier made. It is completely self-contained with the camera bellows and rail for close focusing, a calibrated flash built into the base, an optional Contrast Control Unit (CCU), and holders for various formats of original slides. It takes just about any camera body and lens (with the right adapters), so that you do not have to have a dedicated camera or lens just for the copier. The down side is that they did not make a slide holder for stereo slides. The up side is that I have designed a stereo slide holder and have had a small batch made up (cut with a computer directed laser etching machine) that I am now selling.
If you already have a model D, 3, or 3S Illumitran, you can purchase a holder from me and throw away that tape and cardboard holder you made. If you do not have an Illumitran, I have a couple complete units for sale, all you need to supply is the camera body (and the right adapter). I occasionally have extra parts, lenses, and adapters, so check below if you need something.
Postage and insurance are extra (it runs about $30 for a complete copier sent by Priority mail in the US).

Illumitran Copiers
Below are the two Illumitran models that I have for sale; a model D and a model 3, both with the Contrast Control Units (CCU). I also have one model 3 (not pictured) without the CCU. If you will be using slide copying film only, you do not need the CCU. With every unit I include: a copy of the instructions, a stereo slide holder, a 35mm film strip (or negative) holder, a 3" X 3" color correction filter pack, and a medium density slide for calibrating your Illumitran. You will need to supply a camera body and an enlarger lens with the correct adapters (I have some listed below, if you need them). These copiers sold new for more than $1,600.00 each, however, I believe that my prices for used equipment are much more in line with the average stereo enthusiast's budget.
1. Illumitran model D. Factory modified copier so that it has all of the features of a later model 3 (even the "High/Normal" flash switch). I will include instructions for the model 3 since it has all of its features. $165.00

Illumitran Copier Accessories
Note: Calumet Photo does have a few Illumitran parts still available, but they are extremely limited in quantity and are getting very expensive. If you need any parts that they have listed, I strongly recommend that you do not wait, and order them immediately! Every month I see less items available. If you need a 35mm slide holder or a 35mm negative holder they are not listed on the Calumet site, but can still be back ordered (11 to 16 week wait). Their part numbers are 9EILCR1 and 9EILCR2 respectively. You must call to order (no online order for them available).
1. Ilford Color Correction Filter Set. Complete set of 3" x 3" color correction filters including a UV filter. $30.00 each (you will need two sets if you have a CCU).
2. Illumitran instruction manuals (photocopies). I have instruction manuals for the D, 3 and 3S model copiers (CCU instructions are included with the 3 and 3S model manuals). $5.00 each, please specify which model you need.
3. Illumitran stereo slide holder. Made of laser cut polymer. Once you have calibrated its placement, no need to adjust it again! Push your original slide forward and all the way to the left, expose that frame, slide the original all the way to the right, one more exposure, and you are done! Nothing could be easier! $50.00
