According to Nathan Wodarz, both teams in finals defeated Apple Valley teams in semis.

According to Conrad Anderson, bad weather prevented this final round from taking place

In 1987 the weather turned bad and the final round was suspended until later. Coaches Keillor and Roberts agreed that if the two teams met at the Little Nationals whoever won would be champions or if that was not the case whoever had the best record at the Little Nationals would be champions. Watertown won with an undefeated record. Jon Hanson and Pam Moes were always miffed because St. Francis has the first place trophy.

Was the tournament held in January?  Tom Scudder was debating for Macalester beginning in fall of 1983, so this result must be either one year off or for a January tournament.
