Index -> Prairie Homes Habitat 500 July 2004
From July 11th through 17th, Heidi and I joined about 130 other cyclists and a corps of volunteer and staff support for the Prairie Homes Habitat 500. The 500-mile ride through south central Minnesota was a fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity. This was my fourth Habitat 500 and Heidis second, so weve now ridden over 3,000 miles combined to raise funds for Habitat. The ride was a blast, despite the most challenging headwinds, in terms of force and sheer biking distance, that I have ever encountered. Fortunately, the joys of the ride and the company always conspire to make such challenges quickly forgotten.
My preferred camera is a 30-year old Pentax solidly built of iron, aluminum, and glass, but I opted not to lug it around on my bike for the ride. Thus, I didnt document the ride nearly as thoroughly as I had hoped. I did manage to pull out the Pentax from my luggage for a few photos, and Heidis smaller camera was handy for those rare times we remembered to take a picture. So here are a few photos from the ride. Perhaps I can add in commentary enough to offset the relative dearth of photos.
