Welcome to 2LVCO!

It's January 1, 1999 and I'm working on my personal web site. Does that make me a geek? You be the judge.

I'm using this site to evangelize something that has changed my life for the better. No, it's not religion or a new love. It's even more dramatic than that. It's a technology called Two-line Voice Carry-Over, or 2LVCO for short.

2LVCO has given me better opportunities to make a living (I was a freelance writer for some time). It has made me much more accessible to my hearing friends and family. It has made it much easier to run personal errands (calling about bills, getting tech support, and the like). Finally, (drum roll please) it has allowed me to call a date directly, without having a relay operator talk to her (imagine geetting a call you from someone you know to be a guy, and getting a tinkly, feminine voice).

Sounds tremendous, huh? It's actually pretty straightforward stuff. 2LVCO enables a hearing-impaired person to use existing telephone and relay technology to actively engage in spontaneous, two-way voice conversation with a hearing party.

("2LVCO" is actually a misnomer, as it does NOT use VCO technology. This has caused confusion with CAs inexperienced with the technique.)

A caveat. You must have fairly recognizable speech to use 2LVCO. It does not enhance or replace your speech patterns - it simply allows you to make the greatest possible use of your speech abilities.

Now get into this site and learn exactly how to do it!

Don't know anything about relay calls and wondering why the fuss? Here's some more background.
