2LVCO Relay

A 2LVCO Call
In two-line VCO (2LVCO), the user, rather than the relay, controls the two phone lines.
  • The user initiates the process by using line 2 (gold arrow) to call the relay (TRS) via ASCII TTY or computer.
  • The user has the relay's CA place a voice call to the user's line 1 phone (blue arrow). From that point on, only the CA types on the computer connection, as the user voices to CA.
  • The user's phone then becomes the central command source for a three-way connection between the user, CA, and called party (a stranger, friend, or colleague).
All relay systems have involved three-way conversations. The key difference is that in other relay operations, the user must type to or talk through the CA. In 2LVCO, the CA simply listens in on a conversation between the other two parties while transcribing for the user. Note that where in previous graphics, the blue bidirectional arrow was between the CA and third party, now it is between the user and third party.
